What Is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of the body's soft tissues, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments. It is performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), a regulated healthcare professional trained to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions.
People seek massage therapy for a wide range of reasons: recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, reducing tension from prolonged sitting or physical work, and supporting overall physical health. It is commonly used alongside chiropractic care, physiotherapy, and other treatment approaches.
At Enhanced Wellness Studio, massage therapy is offered as both a standalone treatment and an integrated part of a broader care plan.
Massage therapy at Enhanced Wellness Studio
Our Registered Massage Therapists, including Amy Reitzel, take a clinical approach to each session. Rather than following a fixed routine, treatment begins with an assessment of your presenting concern, movement patterns, and any relevant health history.
From there, your therapist will select techniques and pressure levels appropriate to your condition. Sessions may incorporate:
- Swedish massage for relaxation and circulation
- Deep tissue massage for chronic muscle tension and pain
- Trigger point therapy for localized tightness and referred pain
Our therapists work closely with the rest of the Enhanced Wellness team, including our chiropractors and functional medicine practitioners, to support coordinated care when needed.

What Massage Therapy Can Help With
Patients commonly seek massage therapy at Enhanced Wellness for:
- Back and neck pain: Reducing muscle tension and improving range of motion in areas affected by strain, poor posture, or injury
- Stress and tension: Lowering physical tension held in the body, which can support sleep and daily comfort
- Sports and activity recovery: Supporting muscle repair and reducing soreness following athletic activity or physical work
Results vary depending on the presenting concern and treatment frequency. Your therapist will discuss realistic expectations during your initial assessment.
Massage Therapy
Our massage therapy is provided by a Registered Massage Therapists with multiple specialty certifications. All massage therapy treatments are individualized based on patient injury history, patient preference and needs, as well as physical findings and clinical experience. Each session begins with a short symptom history conversation, followed by the hands-on massage therapy based on optimal treatment outcome. Following the treatment, the patient will be given advise on home selfcare and recommendations on follow-up treatments.
Frequently Asked Questions About Massage Therapy
Massage therapy performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is eligible for reimbursement through many extended health benefits plans. Coverage amounts vary by provider. We recommend checking your plan details before your appointment.
This depends on your goals and condition. For acute pain or injury, more frequent sessions are sometimes recommended initially. For general maintenance or stress management, monthly or bi-monthly appointments are common. Your therapist will give you a recommendation based on your situation.
Swedish massage uses lighter pressure and longer strokes, making it well-suited for relaxation and general tension relief. Deep tissue massage uses more targeted pressure to reach deeper muscle layers, and is often used for chronic pain or persistent tightness. Many sessions incorporate elements of both.
No referral is required. You can book directly through our online booking system.
