What Is Counselling?

Counselling is a structured, collaborative process between you and a registered mental health professional, focused on building insight, coping strategies, and practical tools for navigating life's challenges. Sessions are confidential and tailored to your specific concerns, whether you are dealing with anxiety, relationship difficulties, burnout, trauma, or a major life transition.

At Enhanced Wellness Studio, counselling is provided within a multi-disciplinary setting. This means your mental health care can be coordinated with other services at the clinic when that kind of collaborative approach would benefit you.

Conditions We Treat with Waterloo Counselling

Anxiety and Stress

Counselling for anxiety focuses on identifying the thought patterns and behaviours that drive overwhelm, developing grounding techniques, and building emotional regulation skills that hold up in daily life. Whether you are managing persistent worry, panic, or stress from work and relationships, therapy provides a structured space to work through it.

Couples Counselling in Waterloo

Couples counselling helps partners navigate communication breakdowns, recurring conflict, trust concerns, and major transitions. Using evidence-informed approaches, sessions focus on understanding each partner's perspective, identifying unhelpful patterns, and building the skills to reconnect and communicate more effectively. Couples do not need to be in crisis to benefit from this work.

Burnout and Life Transitions

Periods of change, including career shifts, loss, separation, or identity transitions, can be disorienting even when the change is chosen. Counselling provides support and practical frameworks for adapting, processing, and moving forward with clarity.

Trauma and Trauma-Informed Therapy

Our counsellors take a trauma-informed approach to every session, which means your history and nervous system responses are taken into account from the first appointment. For those working through past or ongoing trauma, sessions provide a safe, paced environment for processing and healing.

Addictions Counselling

Counselling for addictive behaviours focuses on insight, motivation, and practical coping strategies. Sessions help identify triggers, build healthier patterns, and develop sustainable support strategies.

Grief, Loss, and Caregiver Support

Grief takes many forms, including the loss of a person, a relationship, a role, or a sense of identity. Our counsellors also work with caregivers navigating the emotional weight of supporting others through illness or significant life change.

Coping Skills and Emotional Support

For those seeking proactive support rather than crisis intervention, counselling helps build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and develop tools for managing the demands of everyday life.

Counselling at Enhanced Wellness Studio

Counselling at Enhanced Wellness Studio is provided by two Registered Social Workers: Guillermo Rodriguez, BSW, MSW, RSW, and Bianca Bitsakakis, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW.

Guillermo holds a Master of Social Work and is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. His work is grounded in evidence-informed practice, with a focus on building practical skills alongside deeper self-understanding. He works with individuals and couples across a wide range of concerns, and his approach adapts as your goals evolve.

Bianca brings over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field as a Social Worker, therapist, and in leadership roles. She holds her BSW from Renison University College at the University of Waterloo and her MSW from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Her practice is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused, grounded in an anti-oppressive framework that begins where you are and moves forward from there. Bianca has worked across palliative care, critical incident debriefing, mental health and addictions, couples therapy, grief and loss, caregiver support, and adjustment to illness.

Because Enhanced Wellness Studio is a multi-disciplinary clinic, both practitioners can coordinate care with our chiropractors and other team members when a more integrated approach would support your recovery.

What to Expect from Counselling at Enhanced Wellness Studio

Your First Session

Your first appointment is a conversation. Your counsellor will ask about your background, the concerns bringing you in, and what you are hoping to get from therapy. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. The goal is to understand your situation well enough to build a plan that makes sense for you.

Ongoing Sessions

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Depending on your goals, the work might focus on developing specific coping strategies, exploring patterns in your thoughts or relationships, or processing experiences that have been difficult to work through on your own. Frequency is discussed at the outset and can be adjusted as your needs change.

Continuity of Care

If your situation would benefit from coordination with another member of the Enhanced Wellness team, that can be arranged within the same clinic. You do not need a referral to begin counselling.
